Terms of Service

1. Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Corvo ("we", "us", "our") when you use Corvo at itscorvo.com. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Corvo.

You must be at least 18 years old and a current or prospective university student to use Corvo.

2. What Corvo provides

Corvo is a study platform that can:

• Read your lecture files from Canvas or Moodle, or take files you upload, and generate AI study notes
• Create flashcards and quizzes from your course content, with spaced repetition
• Add to your notes from lecture audio you record
• Show your timetable and upcoming deadlines
• Summarise course announcements
• Provide AI study tools, including Ask Corvo and the Research Assistant

We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of the service. If a change significantly reduces what you've paid for, we'll give you reasonable notice.

3. Your account

Keep your login details secure. Don't share your account or use Corvo on behalf of someone else. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, email support@itscorvo.com straight away.

You're responsible for activity under your account.

4. Connecting Canvas or Moodle

You can connect Corvo to your learning platform with an access token you create in your own account. By connecting, you confirm that:

• The token is your own, created from your own account
• You're allowed to let Corvo read your course data on your behalf
• You understand Corvo uses it only to provide the features above, and never changes anything in your learning platform

You can revoke access at any time by deleting the token in your learning platform's settings. Some universities don't allow students to create tokens; if yours doesn't, you can still use Corvo by uploading your lecture files.

5. Trial, subscription and billing

Free trial

Every new account gets a 7-day free trial with full access. You add a card when you start your trial, and you won't be charged until it ends, unless you choose to pay straight away. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you won't be charged at all. If your card couldn't be saved when you signed up, your trial is cancelled when it ends rather than charged.

When your trial ends without a paid subscription, your notes, flashcards and quizzes are locked, not deleted, until you subscribe.

Paid plans

Corvo Pro is available as a monthly, semester or yearly plan, in pounds or US dollars, at the price shown at checkout. Billing is handled by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. We won't change the price of an existing subscription without telling you in advance.

We may also offer optional one-off purchases (such as syncing your full lecture history) and promotional offers. These apply as described when offered.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time in Settings. Cancelling takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then. We don't refund partial billing periods, except where the law requires it or a promotion says otherwise.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it automatically. If payment can't be collected, your access is locked until the outstanding amount is paid. You can update your card in Settings.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Corvo to break your institution's academic integrity rules. Corvo makes study notes and revision aids, not coursework or essays to submit.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape or extract data from Corvo by automated means
• Try to access another user's data or get around authentication
• Use Corvo in a way that could damage, overload or impair the service
• Resell or sublicense access to Corvo
• Upload or record content you don't have the right to use

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

Your content

You keep ownership of your lecture slides, course materials and anything else you bring into Corvo. You give us a limited licence to process that content only to provide the service to you.

AI-generated output

Notes, flashcards, quizzes and other output Corvo generates are for your personal study use. We don't claim ownership of output generated from your materials.

The Corvo platform

The Corvo platform, brand, design and code are our intellectual property. You may not copy, reproduce or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

8. AI and third-party services

Corvo uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate study content, and Groq to transcribe lecture audio you record. By using Corvo, you understand that:

• Your lecture content is sent to these providers for processing, as described in our Privacy Policy
• Under Anthropic's commercial terms, your content isn't used to train its models
• AI-generated content can contain errors. Always check it against your official course materials.
• Corvo is a study aid, not a replacement for attending lectures or reading your course materials

9. Availability and liability

We aim to keep Corvo available at all times, but can't guarantee uninterrupted service. We're not liable for:

• Downtime for maintenance, or caused by problems with third-party services (such as Canvas, Moodle, Supabase, Anthropic or Stripe)
• Loss of data caused by events outside our reasonable control
• Academic consequences of using or misusing AI-generated content
• Changes your institution makes to its learning platform that affect Corvo's ability to read your data

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Corvo is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. This cancels any active subscription and permanently deletes your data straight away, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, or if we discontinue the service.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll email you before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel or delete your account before then; continuing to use Corvo after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
